Music I listen to

almost anything not slow..some faves: Brian Auger, Bobby Caldwell, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Shaka Khan.

Interesting facts about me

Am finally justified as far as why I have sitting disability -- diagnosed in 2007 w/ SIJD...i fit those symptoms even better than to the slipped vertebra and disks that were easily diagnosed...usu. type using shorthand while lying on side...have not yet spent much time w/ my voice system (dragon) ...have had sitting disability since fall 2004....total daily sitting time 5hrs max.but most of that time i must lean forward solidly on table, desk,etc...total daily standing time hard to say since it's minutes here and there -- cant do a solid half hour, so rough est.: 1hr daily....walking/elliptical/light dancing time 1hr., daily total: about 2hrs...when others are sitting im usu on my side, sometimes head propped up by forearm but usu head flat down...i can only drive 4 about 5 min on a good day...mall time: 1 1/2 hrs. ...pre-disability was helping to remodel my home 4 resale but now i do mainly background work...plan to be a landlady and return to my former occupation as a hypnotherapist but with the sitting it can only b a few hrs weekly...how will i do it? just ask :)...

Was not hit as hard by the disability as most as was already dealing with lifelong depression/anxiety...worst was realizing my plans to alleviate my mental probs. were not as likely to materialize...worst part is so little available employment-wise...as long as i ration my physicality im almost painfree...

Oddly, almost as important to me as becoming ablebodied is my lifelong interest in cosmetic procedures...i realize this is very unusual for anyone with a severe disability..so far i've had very little done to myself in this area but seeing the improvements have helped with my mental difficulties -- i thought i would not b able to sleep on back as recommended after most surgical procedures but i was able to, at least for as long as necessary! i was very surprised, as i had told the doc, unless im knocked out with drugs, no way!

My family is essential to my life...its unimaginable to think of being without them....what a great help they are in so many ways....however i need interaction with others who i have more in common with in terms of a disability...thats why i'm here...theres so much education and extra discipline needed for a disability...also its very arduous cognitively... the doctors tell me i cant really do any more harm as long as i dont lift improperly but i feel theres more necessary than that and they just try to act as though they know how to treat this....had 1 coccyx and 2 SI cortisone injections but no lasting effect, maybe because i lapsed out of the scheduling bec my doc had an emergency absence frm his appts...ive found my doc transferred out of the area so im trying 2 find a replacement rather than resorting to commute to him...i really will comtinue w/ the shots if whoever gives them tells me theres a chance 4 a permanent improvement, which my last doc did tell me..

I have a vision to help those who want to live with/near other disableds to do so...maybe i can start if i become a landlady, which is a longstanding dream and a great way for the disabled to make $...i'm an advocate with my local center 4 independent living but not much help anywhere for my disability... my local Montgomery Mall has a few sofas in the ladies restrooms! ,,,the first one i noticed was in the JC Penney department store -- the manger there seems the one most instrumental in getting the sofas, at least the one in JC Penney...was denied a row of seats (to lay across) at amtrak train stations in usa -- as far as i know the only public trans-usa rail transportation

Btw, the pic is from about 2001...the people ive met on here are so wonderful.... this board does quite a lot to "take the edge off" my problems..hope i can help half as much as im being helped by those on this board....especially thankful to Mosken who put sitting disability on the proverbial map and is bringing attention to the virtually unknown sitting disability...and --thank you ALL :)
